Aromatherapy

Essential oils are derived from plants that are chosen for their particular therapeutic qualities which are stimulating, refreshing or sedative. Due to modern day living there is an increase in the number of people suffering from the effects of stress, noise, air pollution, financial problems and uncertainty about the future. All of these factors contribute to the general stress situation we face and stress produces a state of muscular tension, the heart is made to work harder and valuable energy is burned up unnecessarily. We become tired, sometimes depressed and our resistance to infection and disease is drastically reduced.

Aromatherapy treatments are specially designed to relax away tension, restore vitality, and reduce the workload of the heart. Massage is used because of its affects on circulation of the blood, the muscles, the nervous system and organs of the body as well as being a most effective treatment for symptoms arising directly from stress situations. Massage can greatly reduce pain in many arthritic and rheumatic conditions, it can hasten the body's processes for healing and change a person's psychological mood.

Different essential oils from flowers, fruits and leaves have different effects on a person's physical and mental well being. Essential oils can be inhaled through the nose as the nerves in the nose are closely linked to the mood centres of the
brain or they can be absorbed through the skin.
